Aerators Replaced at Newton Water Treatment Plant

Aerators Replaced

The Up Flow Aerators at the Newton Water Treatment Plant were replaced by Weidner Construction of Marshalltown. Aeration reduces CO2, oxidizes Iron and Manganese, and removes Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide. This is the first step in producing Newton’s excellent drinking water. The photo shows the new aerator unites being placed. The units which have been in use since 1968 are a vital part of treating Newton’s water supply. The cost of the project is $178,470.
