About the Department

Many changes have been made in the fire service since the turn of the century. Gone are the days that the fire department responds to only fire calls. The Newton Fire Department (NFD) is a full service fire department which provides fire, emergency medical services, hazardous materials and technical rescue response capabilities. In addition, the departments also responsible for City disaster response coordination. Whatever the emergency, the NFD is prepared and ready to answer the call.

The Newton Fire Department has many opportunities to interact with the community.

Each year we conduct tours, fire extinguisher classes, classes on fire safety and educational classes to several elementary grades and pre-school age children. Many times you will see POC Staff interacting with the community at parades, public events, and our S.A.F.E. House program.
