The Newton City Council consists of dedicated individuals who represent the diverse interests of our community. It is composed of the following members:

• Mayor: The Mayor serves as the head of the City Council and provides leadership to the city government.
• Two Members-at-Large: These council members are elected to represent the city as a whole.
• One Member from Each Ward: Each of the four wards in the City of Newton is represented by a council member, ensuring fair and balanced representation across the community.

Council Meetings

The City Council meets regularly to address important matters and make decisions that shape our community. Meetings take place on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6 p.m. The meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 101 W 4th St S. Accessing Meeting Agendas

To keep the public informed, meeting agendas are posted at City Hall and the Newton Public Library several days before each meeting. Additionally, you can conveniently access the meeting agendas online.
