Newton Public Library
All City of Newton municipal buildings and offices will be closed on Friday, December 23.

We are a meet-up that introduces creatives and entrepreneurs to one another so that they can share ways to grow their ideas. We are a space for outside-the-box thinkers to find and support each other’s ideas. We are here to help people make connections that stimulate organic economic growth.

The event returns bigger, brighter and better for its second year. The museum’s interior will be decked out for the holidays - you’ll find wreaths, seasonal decorations and more than 175 Christmas trees. Visit from 5 - 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 - 4 p.m. Sundays. Closed Christmas Eve. Admission is $5 per person, kids 7 and younger are free.
Newton Community Theatre
With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future in this holiday musical.
Jasper County Historical Museum
The Jasper County Museum will host a Lunch & Learn on the second Wednesday of from 12 - 1 P.M. each month.
Pick up 22 pieces of litter near my home, work, or place of recreation on the 22nd of each month.

The December theme is "Winter Wonderland" and includes a selection of holiday and winter themed novels. The craft is a flannel evergreen tree forest.

Storytime for newborns to 18 months with their caregiver. The storytime will run about 15 minutes and include an open playtime at the end.
Teens in grades 5 - 12 are invited to join us at the library for a decoupage ornament crafting program. We will decoupage wood slice ornaments with colorful holiday napkins. All materials will be provided, must be pre-registered. Call the library at 641-792-4108 to register.
In-person storytime for children ages 18 to 36 months with a caregiver. Storytime will last for 20 minutes with a simple craft following. Siblings are welcome to attend. Questions? Please contact Phyllis Peter at 641-792-4108.

Our Public Services Librarian will provide dedicated support for job-seekers on most Wednesday afternoons. Now is the perfect time to start scanning those old family photos! Drop-in on the second Monday morning of the month to learn about our Memory Lab Digitization Equipment and have our Public Services Librarian scan your photos. Load up the car and bring the family to see thousands of twinkling lights and more than 50 lighted displays at Maytag Park Holiday Lights sponsored by Clemon-Maki Insurance and organized by the City of Newton and Friends of Newton Parks. Admission is free each evening.
