Fire Chief Jarrod Wellik attended a Sports Event Risk Management Class in Des Moines conducted by Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service National Emergency Response & Rescue Training Center.
The two-day course focused on specific strategies to manage risk specific to large venues like the Iowa Speedway. The course was 16 hours in length and was sponsored by the Des Moines School District.
