The Police Department’s new Community Service Officer Intern, Lauren Slings, started on May 28. The CSO Intern is a new program to the City and is only one of a handful of paid law enforcement internships in the state. Slings will be working 15-20 hours per week and will be assisting with parking and code enforcement duties as well as other low-level law enforcement tasks. Slings will also have the opportunity to work with every division within the department in order to broaden her experience to meet learning objectives for college credit. Intern applicants were required to go through an application process that included resumes submission, interviews, and a thorough background check. Intern applicants were also required to have a major in a law enforcement related field and have a GPA over 3.0.
