Officer Tom McDonnell has been selected to serve as the new School Resource Officer at Berg Middle School beginning in August. Officer McDonnell has been with the Newton Police Department since 2015 and is currently assigned to an evening patrol shift.
He has served as a field training officer, firearms instructor, chemical munitions instructor, tactical team member, and active shooter response trainer.
Officer McDonnell will be attending a 40 hour National Association of School Resource Officers basic training course in early August in preparation for his new assignment. Tom is excited about the new assignment and the opportunity to partner with the school district and students.
