Newton Wal-Mart recently awarded the Newton Police Department with a $2500 Local Community Grant for the purchase of traffic safety equipment to be used at public events to educate community members about the dangers of drunk driving and distracted driving. The education equipment includes 2 adult-sized pedal go-karts, impairment goggles that simulate drug and alcohol intoxication and traffic cones for the development of an experiential driving course. This equipment will be used during public events and in the local schools to reinforce and improve traffic safety within our community.
