Firefighter/Paramedic Joe Coen of the Newton Fire Department celebrated 25 years with the department. He joined the department in May of 1988. Congratulations and thank you FF/EMT-P Coen for your years of service to our community. FF/EMT-P Coen was also honored by Mercy Hospital in Des Moines last week as part of EMS Week. Recognition is given by placing the plaque (shown at left) on the “Wall of Fame.” The plaque reads “Joe, a member of the Newton Fire Department for over 20 years, is dedicated to the highest level of care. Through education, Joe continues his dedication by teaching others throughout central Iowa. He is active in teaching BLS, ACLS, PALS, and many other classes…..Joe continues to go above and beyond on a daily basis to help educate EMS and Fire personnel.”
