[ARCHIVED] Downtown Traffic Signal Improvement Project Update (10/2/2019)

Downtown Traffic Signal Improvement Project

The contractor intends to begin work on the 1st Street and 1st Avenue intersection this week. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution in the area during the project and are asked to follow posted traffic control devices and signs.

The physical improvements at the intersection of W 4th Street & 1st Avenue are complete and construction at the W 3rd Street & 1st Avenue W intersection will soon wrap up. At this time, synchronization between the traffic signals at the intersections will continue to be interrupted but a final synchronization will be completed at the end of the project between all of the signals.

The Downtown Traffic Signal Improvement Project started on Wednesday, August 14. During the project, traffic signal and sidewalk improvements will be made along 1st Avenue between W 4th Street and E 4th Street. Throughout various stages of the project, sidewalks in the downtown may be closed; the contractor will be responsible for signing alternative routes. There is also the possibility of temporary lane closures, lane reductions, traffic signal disruption, and delays; which the contractor will be responsible for.

Questions on this project should be directed to Public Works at 641-792-6622.
