The Newton Fire Department is providing a valuable opportunity to plan and practice escapes as part of Fire Prevention Week visiting local elementary schools this week with the S.A.F.E. House.
Following a classroom visit, third graders view a video inside the S.A.F.E. House and then have the opportunity to get out of the house as it fills with theatrical smoke and smoke detectors going off. Students then practice their escapes and immediately find a phone outside the S.A.F.E. House to dial 911 to relay the emergency information to a dispatch operator.
