Graduation was held for the first annual Citizens Public Safety Academy hosted by the Newton Fire Department & Newton Police Department on November 26 at the Newton Fire Department.
The Citizens Public Safety Academy is a collaborative effort between the Newton Fire Department and Newton Police Department to provide real-world training and experience to the residents of Newton. Through behind-the-scenes tours, hands-on activities and conversations with Newton police officers and firefighters participants learned about the departments and the services they provide to the community.
Participants attended 10 three-hour weekly sessions from September 24 until November 26. Graduates received a certificate and took part in a reception after graduation.
