Parks operations staff also has been busy with other seasonal tasks, such as snow removal and upkeep of the Maytag Park Ice Rink. The crews perform different ice resurfacing techniques several times each week. Snow also has to be cleared off the ice to keep the ice smooth.
Pictured is a tool used to add a thin layer of water to smooth out the ice. Some days, this process is done 7 or 8 times.
With the improved lighting above the ice rink, we have seen an increase in usage by the public from previous years.
