[ARCHIVED] How to View Newton City Council Meetings

The Newton City Council and City of Newton staff would like to remind Newton citizens that they have the option to view City Council meetings live if they prefer not to attend a meeting in person.

  • Television – Meetings are broadcast live on Mediacom channels 12, 85 or 121.12.
  • Live stream – Meetings are streamed live on the City’s website (www.newtongov.org)
  • At the time of the City Council meeting, visit the City’s website and click “I Want To…” > “View” > “Livestream of City Council Meetings”

Recordings of City Council meetings are also available on demand a couple of days after a meeting on the City’s website in the Agenda (www.newtongov.org/AgendaCenter).

The Iowa Department of Health stated in a release on March 12, 2020: “There is currently no known community spread of COVID-19 in Iowa and the agency is not making any recommendations to cancel planned events and mass gatherings at this time. […] The CDC has, however, provided specific guidance for high risk groups. Older adults and those with chronic health conditions should stay away from others who are sick, limit close contact with others in general, avoid crowds, and wash hands often.”
