[ARCHIVED] City of Newton Emergency Proclamation Extended through May 15, 2020

Mayor Michael L. Hansen has amended his most recent emergency proclamation from April 27 to keep City of Newton buildings and offices closed to the general public through May 27. View the amended proclamation here

“The local emergency proclamation, keeping City buildings closed, will continue to be in place as I work with a task force of department directors and City employees to determine the schedule of city office openings,” said Mayor Hansen. “The decisions we make will protect the safety of our employees and the citizens of Newton.”

The proclamation, in accordance with the State Public Health Emergency Declaration proclamation signed by Governor Reynolds, still limits gathering of 10 people or more on public property or public right-of-way (such as City of Newton parks). Any permits or permissions previously granted will be rescinded and any amounts paid for such permits can be refunded upon request.

This public health emergency is ever-evolving so the City of Newton has created a landing page with information and resources about COVID-19 at www.newtongov.org/COVID-19.
