In observance of Independence Day, City offices and buildings will be closed on Friday, July 3.
- City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3
- The Public Works building and the Public Works, Community Development, and Community Services offices will be closed on Friday, July 3
- The Newton Police Department and Newton Fire Department business offices will be closed on Friday, July 3
- The Newton Public Library will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4
- The Newton Sanitary Landfill will be open 7:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. on Friday, July 3 and closed on Saturday, July 4
The City of Newton Fourth of July Fireworks Display will take place at dusk on Saturday, July 4 at Agnes Patterson Memorial Park. The success of the event will greatly depend on the cooperation of the City’s residents to follow the CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines including practicing social distancing. Residents are encouraged to remain in or near their cars to watch the display or to keep six feet of distance between groups if watching from seating in the park.
