The City of Newton Commercial Property/Business Inspection program started January 1, 2021. The program was developed to ensure the health and safety of Newton’s citizens and visitors. Newton City Council has established a goal of improving curb appeal within the community. This newsletter was designed to provide information on the program and to provide health and safety information to business owners. Another goal of the newsletter is to address common questions and provide information to assist business and property owners in achieving compliance with the program. As of February 22, 2021, there are 51 registrations and 14 inspections have been completed. All commercial business properties north of 1st Ave are to be inspected in 2021. There are 234 commercial/business properties in the 2021 inspection program. Businesses south of 1st Ave will be inspected in 2022.
