The Newton Police Department is holding neighborhood outreach meetings in each zone starting in July. These meetings will allow residents to learn about crime prevention programs within the community and discuss concerns and issues within your neighborhood.
Residents will also be able to meet the police officers assigned to their zone and establish connections with your neighbors. Make sure to bring your lawn chair. A map of the zones can be found here: http://bit.ly/copsandneighborhoodsunited.

- Zone 2 - 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, at Woodland Park South Shelter (201 N 19th Ave E)
- Zone 3 - 6 p.m. Monday, August 30, at Agnes Patterson Park North Shelter (3000 N 4th Ave E)
- Zone 4 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Denniston Knolls Park (W 16th St S & S 12th Ave W)
- Zone 5 - 6 p.m. Thursday, August 5, at Maytag Park West Shelter (301 S 11th Ave W)
- Zone 6 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, at Aurora Park Shelter (2111 1st Ave E)
ABOUT COPS & NEIGHBORHOODS UNITED
The Newton Police Department has developed the Cops and Neighborhoods United program to help residents make their neighborhoods safe places to live. This program works to develop relationships between our police officers and the residents that we serve. Using a grid system already used by the police department to track crime rates and traffic issues, officers have been assigned to each area of Newton. This will allow our residents to have one or two officers that they can contact, get to know and work to resolve issues in their neighborhood.
The City of Newton has been broken down into 6 zones and at least 2 officers are assigned to each zone; a map of the zones can be found here: http://bit.ly/copsandneighborhoodsunited.
If a resident notices an issue in their neighborhood, they are encouraged to contact their assigned officers to work to resolve those issues through a cooperative effort.
