[ARCHIVED] HYDRANT FLUSHING

Newton WaterWorks will be flushing hydrants:

North of 1st Ave & Bittersweet Subdivision - Friday 10/15/21 from 10pm to 10/16/21 6am.

South of 1st Ave - Saturday 10/16/21 from 10pm to 10/17/21 6am.

Hydrants are flushed several times a year to clear the water mains of internal corrosion and residue which naturally builds up in water mains.  While no interruptions in service will occur, some customers may experience a drop in water pressure or discoloration.  The discoloration will clear in a few minutes if the cold water tap is allowed to run.  Do not run hot water or do laundry until the cold water side is clear.

Only the hydrants that provide the greatest flow or those on dead ends will be opened.  Should customers of Newton, Lambs Grove or surrounding areas have questions or concerns they may contact the WaterWorks at:  641-792-2003 or 641-792-1460.
