The City of Newton, Iowa is accepting applications for the position of entry level (non-certified) and lateral (Iowa certified) Police Officer. Starting salary is $55,884 for non-certified entry level or up to $64,908 for Iowa certified lateral officers plus excellent benefits. Eligible certified officers may receive additional vacation hours and a bonus of up to $2,500 for successful completion of the field training program. Newton is a progressive community with a population of 15,750 located east of the Des Moines metro on Interstate 80 and is the home of the Iowa Speedway. The Newton Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency consisting of 27 sworn and 5 non-sworn employees and includes a school resource officer, narcotics detective, general crimes detective, K9 unit, SWAT team and motorcycle unit.
