[ARCHIVED] Outdoor Warning Signals Update

City staff will be investigating why some of Newton's outdoor warning sirens did not go off when triggered. As a friendly reminder, the outdoor warnings sirens are meant to warn people outside of impending severe weathers such as tornados or destructive winds, they are not meant to be heard indoors. We encourage everyone to have to have a weather radio in their place of business and home; to turn on the WENS settings on your mobile devices AND sign up for Alert Iowa notifications (sign up here: https://homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/alert-iowa/). All three of these methods delivered notifications during the tornado warnings that affected Newton on March 5.
