[ARCHIVED] Flushing Hydrants April 29 - May 1

hydrant

Newton WaterWorks will be flushing hydrants on Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1, 2022.

  • Friday, April 29 at 10 PM to 6AM on Saturday, April 30 hydrants that are north of First Avenue and Bittersweet Subdivision will be flushed.
  • Saturday, April 30 at 10 PM to Sunday, May 1 at 6 AM hydrants south of First Avenue will be flushed.

Hydrants are flushed several times a year to clear the water mains of internal corrosion and residue which naturally builds up in water mains. While no interruptions in water service will occur, customers may experience some drop in pressure or some discoloration of their water. The discoloration will clear up in a few minutes if the cold-water tap is allowed to run. Do not run hot water or do laundry until cold water side is clear. Only those that provide the greatest flow and those that are on dead ends are opened.

Should customers of Newton, Lambs Grove or surrounding areas have questions or concerns, they may contact Newton WaterWorks at 641-792-2003 or 641-792-7351.
