A dedication ceremony took place on Friday, July 1 retiring the engine put into service in 1995 (Engine 51) and placing the new fire engine (Engine 2) into service. The morning featured bagpipe music and in firehouse tradition, the engine tires were sprayed with water while the truck was ceremoniously “pushed” into the fire station. The ceremony dates back to a time before fire trucks were motorized and operated with horse drawn equipment.
