Newton WaterWorks will be flushing hydrants on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29 in Newton, Lambs Grove and surrounding unincorporated areas in Jasper County.
- Friday, October 28, 2022 from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., north of 1st Ave & the Bittersweet Estates Subdivision located west of Newton city limits on S 12th Ave W (includes Harbor Ave, Howe St & Hood Street).
- Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., south of 1st Ave.
Hydrants are flushed several times a year to clear the water mains of internal corrosion and residue which naturally builds up in water mains. Only hydrants that provide the greatest flow and those that are on dead ends are opened.
While no interruptions in water service will occur, customers may experience some drop in pressure or some discoloration of their water. The discoloration will clear up in a few minutes if the cold water tap is allowed to run. Do not run hot water or do laundry until cold water side is clear.
Should Newton WaterWorks customers in Newton, Lambs Grove or surronding unincorporated Jasper County have questions or concerns, they may contact Newton WaterWorks staff at 641-792-2003.
