This week, a little over a half-year following the launch of Newton’s community brand, ‘Get to Know Newton’ has been adopted by the Newton Housing Development Corporation (NHDC) and Newton Development Corporation (NDC) through the development of new organizational logos. The new marks for these organizations reflect the unity between the City of Newton, the NHDC, and the NDC in their strategy for Newton’s future growth and development.
“The adoption of ‘Get to Know Newton’ organizational logos on behalf of the NDC and NHDC creates a unified message and strategy between these development organizations,” said Natalie Umsted, Management Analyst for the City of Newton. “Both of these organizations work closely together with the City and with each other. In order to maximize our impact, it is important we all use the same message and visual cues. Our message is that there are a lot of great things to get to know in Newton.”
The Newton Housing Development Corporation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with the mission of improving and growing housing conditions in Newton, will be using the ‘Get to Know Newton’ campaign to market the Newton Housing Initiative to the community and region. The Housing Initiative is designed to spark new housing development in Newton. In a snap-shot: the City of Newton will provide $10,000 cash to anyone building a new home, inside City limits, valued at $160,000 or more.
The Newton Development Corporation, a non-profit organization geared toward growing industrial and retail development in Newton, will be using the ‘Get to Know Newton’ campaign in attracting new business growth and development to the city. One of the tools the NDC currently uses is the Buxton Report.
“The Buxton Report helps us make the case to companies that Newton is a strong place to build and grow their business,” said Frank Liebl, Executive Director of the Newton Development Corporation. “Through the use of the ‘Get to Know Newton’ campaign, we are able to show that Newton is a vibrant city with a bright future,”
‘Get to Know Newton’ launched as the new community brand in February 2014, coinciding with a new communications strategy and marketing outreach by the City of Newton. The ‘Get to Know Newton’ branding campaign was developed as a new way to introduce people to the many great amenities in the Newton community – excellent schools, unique entertainment venues, and an ideal location. It is the community’s invitation to organizations, companies, and individuals to “get to know” all that Newton has in store.
