Work Started Monday on the Firefighters Tribute site in the southeast corner of the Newton Fire Station property. Newton WaterWorks employees started the demolition work by removing all of the vegetation and concrete at the existing flag pole site. The new Firefighter Tribute includes a statue, sculpted by Nick Klepinger, of two firefighters holding a child that is 1 ½ times actual size. Pavers are still available for purchase. Contact the Fire Department @ 792-3347 for more details. A dedication ceremony is planned for 9/11/2012 to coincide with the 11th Anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
