Staff began construction of the new storm water detention basin. This storm water detention basin will be several acres in size; it will eventually replace the existing storm water detention basin as future landfill cells will be constructed in that area. The sediment basin is located on the southeast side of the landfill and will aid in the loss of top soil and reduce water run-off that could impact neighboring properties. To date, 6,100 cubic yards of black dirt and 1,400 cubic yards of clay have been removed from the area. The clay is utilized for intermediate cover and the black dirt will be used for future cell closures.
