Crews set the base of the soon to be dedicated Firefighter Tribute Statue in front of the fire station this week. The base weighs in excess of two tons and was set in place with a forklift donated by Smith Rental of Newton. The statues sculptor, Nick Klepinger, has been in Colorado taking delivery of the bronze statue. Landscaping and installation of brick pavers around the base of the statue are scheduled for the first week of September in advance of a dedication ceremony scheduled for 5:30 PM on September 11.
