Parks Operations staff are responsible for snow removal in all downtown alleys and city owned parking lots and their sidewalks and many of the city owned properties such as, City Hall, Newton Public Library, Police and Fire parking lots and sidewalks, D&D properties sidewalks, in addition to the Parks and Cemeteries.

The Parks Operations staff converts many of their pieces of mowing equipment for multiple different tasks throughout the year, such as a mower with a snow blade attachment used for sidewalk snow removal.

Water Pollution Control staff is responsible for snow removal of the Cul-de-sacs, dead end streets,  Water Pollution Control Plant and the numerous pump stations access roads and parking lots throughout the city. WPC utilizes two of their own pickups with snow plows and a slide in sander box in addition to utilizing their front-end loader to accomplish these snow removal tasks.

Public Works Operations / Landfill staff  are responsible for snow removal operations at the landfill. This includes their interior roads, parking lots , the active cells. They will also help the staff in the Streets Division in addition to helping with the Streets division.

The Streets Division is responsible for snow removal operations on all other city streets. The crew is divided into two shifts when snow removal operations require. This allows the crew to be out plowing the streets 24/7 as needed, by working 2-12 hours shifts.

Public Works Operations / Streets staff are also responsible for removing and hauling the snow away from downtown. This is done the night or nights following the snow event and all of the streets have been plowed.
