The Building Trades Board met on March 21, 2018 to continue their review and discussion on the 2015 Building and Fire Codes and any possible local amendments. In general, the goal for the update is to remain consistent with the State of Iowa and the Central Iowa region to provide consistency for contractors doing work in Newton. At the board’s next meeting on April 11th, they will review the 2015 IBC, the last of the series of codes. Soon, staff and the board will provide a public open house/input opportunity for area contractors on the updates. Discussion of a date for that opportunity will occur during their next meeting.
