City of Newton Parks Operations staff put in hundreds of hours planning and preparing the parks prior to hosting RAGBRAI on July 25th. Most of the Newton’s Parks had RAGBRAI riders camping in them.
Maytag Park served as the “main campground” and housed the information center, RAGBRAI bag drop site, sag wagon drop-off, first aid tent location, three vendors, shuttle stop, shower location in the Pool Pavilion, and thousands of campers throughout.
Agnes Patterson Park, Adult Softball Complex, Woodland Park, Tee Ball Fields, Callison Park, and Sunset Park were packed with campers as well.
Staff received numerous compliments on the condition and beauty of the parks, and with the city of Newton as a whole.
