Local public safety agencies hosted a National Drug Drop Off on Saturday, November 10 at the Newton Fire Station. Bill Wright, Prevention Specialist with Employee & Family Resources in Des Moines organized the event. A total of 52 pounds of prescription medications were collected keeping them from being disposed of improperly, by throwing away or flushing down the toilet. This was the second collection in Newton this year. The first was held in April.
