RAGBRAI was a crazy time for the City and for the Library! During RAGBRAI, all Internet policies were suspended in order to accommodate RAGRBAI riders. ID’s were not required, riders were allowed extended time, and riders were allowed to get on the computer as often as they needed. Riders were camped out in the aisles, laying on the floor next to outlets, camped on the library lawn, and taking up every chair in the Library. We now know that if Newton hosts RAGBRAI again, to have extension cords at each outlet for the use of charging devices and to bring every chair out from the back. Overall, staff did a great job at accommodating riders and a majority of riders exclaimed how beautiful and welcoming the newly renovated Library was. The RAGBRAI riders were very polite and left Thank You notes stuck to our front doors for accommodating them.
