Once again the City of Newton will sponsor collection and disposal of Christmas trees at no cost to Newton residential property owners. Trees should be placed at the curb on the resident's regular trash day during the week of January 7th - January 11th, 2013.
In order to ensure employee safety during collection and to speed disposal of the trees later on, please remove tree stands, nails, and metal fasteners. For those who may use a plastic bag to cover the tree while it is being removed from the residence, please remove and properly dispose of the plastic bag before placing the tree at the curb.
There will be no charge for trees taken directly to Newton Sanitary Landfill during the week of January 7th; however before January 7th or after January 11th, there will be a $1.00 charge for trees taken to the Landfill.
