The Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet on Wednesday, October 10th. During that meeting a variance was granted for the parking and setback of Scooter’s Coffee, a drive-through coffee kiosk proposed to be located at 1114 1st Avenue East (the Goodwill shopping center). In addition, a conditional use permit was granted to Global Fiberglass for the expansion of their storage yard located in the SW Corner of the facility at 927 N 19th Avenue E. The yard is accessed by a driveway located along East 8th Street North, just north of Realm.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment also met on November 1, 2018. The board approved a conditional use permit for the addition of a residential unit at 1024 East 8th Street North, Tree Pro. There will be no change in the building footprint. The addition of the residential unit will be an interior modification. The board also granted a parking waiver for the Newton Apartment Project to be located on the former Seed Store site. The 38-plex apartment complex is required to provide 57 parking spaces. They are able to provide 56. The zoning code allows for the board of adjustment to waive the parking requirement when there is adequate on-street or public parking available. The board granted the waiver of allowing the use of 1 on-street parking space to meet their zoning requirement.
