The library was recently a recipient of 3 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) backpacks from the Coons Foundation and IPTV. STEM activities, books, and PBS KIDS DVDs are included in each backpack, with activities serving children between 3 and 8 years of age. The backpacks may be checked out from the library for three weeks. The Newton Public Library backpacks cover the topics of gravity, engineering, and shapes and patterns.
