Due to the extreme cold weather and wind chills forecasted for later today and all day tomorrow, all City of Newton offices will be closed Wednesday, January 30 and will reopen regular hours Thursday, January 31. The City will continue to provide essential services through the reopening of city offices on Thursday morning.
The City of Newton is asking all residents to heed the National Weather Service warning regarding the dangerous wind chills. A wind chill warning remains in effect from 6 p.m. tonight through 9 a.m. Thursday; the dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes and also be life-threatening.
