With the inspections being completed, it is the time of year that fire crews will be out updating preplans. Preplans are documents that list all of the hazards to firefighters in the buildings. Having that information prior to emergency response is critical for their safety.
In addition, all of the building's characteristics are studied to ensure firefighters have proper access to all of the building components. Preplans are updated to a software app on mobile computers and phones that can be accessed on the scene during emergencies. Shown here is a screenshot from a phone app. The yellow and green squares are fire hydrants and the white boxes are preplans. Clicking on one of these in the app brings up all the current information.
