Cold weather and frozen conditions are a challenge for staff and equipment at the landfill. Temperatures in negative zero degree weather contributed to a hydraulic line leaking on the John Deere 850K. The City mechanic and landfill staff are utilizing the maintenance shop to identify and repair a leaking hydraulic line on the dozer.
The process includes removing the landfill package equipment and ripper from the machine. The area in question has limited access so dye is placed in the hydraulic tank and a black light is used to assist with finding the leak. Utilizing staff to make this repair saved money and was able to get the dozer repaired quicker.
