[ARCHIVED] National Library Week

Library Books

National Library Week (April 7 - 13, 2019) is a time to celebrate the contributions of our library and library workers and to promote library use and support. From free access to books and online resources for families to library business centers that help support entrepreneurship and retraining, libraries offer an opportunity to all. The theme for 2019 National Library Week is “Libraries = Strong Communities”. To celebrate we will have a social media bookcase contest, book spine poetry contest, and Food for Fines.

Patrons can make a poem out of the spines of books to enter to win a prize or vote on contestants who entered.

Food for Fines allows patrons to eliminate fines by giving one non-perishable food item for each $1.00 in fines. All food will be donated to the Newton Community Food Pantry. We invite everyone to stop into the library during the week of April 7th to enjoy the festivities and make Newton a stronger community.
