Street crews, with the help of high school students during Red Pride Service Day, planted trees in the right-of-way in downtown Newton. Over the years’ right-of-way trees have been taken out due to disease, damage or due to the fact they are at the end of their life. The students and staff planted American Hornbeam, Hackberry, and a Honey Locust in the 200 block of N 3rd Ave E. The trees planted are six to eight foot tall right now and will mature to twenty or thirty feet tall with a twenty-foot canopy.
