Each year the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) celebrate EMS Week. The EMS system consists of emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, emergency physicians, emergency nurses, educators, administrators and others. Recognition included:
Staff and the NFD Chaplain cooking breakfast for EMS providers in Newton,
Mercy One – Newton hosted EMS classes for area providers on Tuesday and hosted lunch on Wednesday,
Hospitals in the Des Moines area provided lunch and other perks to providers throughout the week.
It is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of EMS providers as they provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills.
