The annual Jasper County Law Enforcement Memorial was held on May 16 on the courthouse lawn. Dozens of law enforcement offices from surrounding agencies were in attendance as well as a number of family members and community supporters. The memorial honored the 158 law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2018 as well as our 5 local heroes that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Sgt. Chris Wing was awarded the 2019 Jasper County Law Enforcement Employee of the Year Award by the Newton Daily News for his exemplary service as a police officer.
