The Homebound Reader Service is a free program specifically designed for those who are confined to their homes by an illness or an injury, either temporary or long term. Patrons within Newton City limits will be assigned a volunteer that will drop off and pick up your library materials. Patrons living outside of Newton city limits are allowed to designate a volunteer who will pick up and drop off library materials on the reader's behalf. Homebound Readers are allowed to check out a variety of materials including Magazines, Audiobooks, and books. Readers may also request specific titles and place holds on items. Homebound status may be revoked at the director's discretion if the privilege is abused.
The library will assign a volunteer to deliver books to readers within Newton city limits. Those who live outside of the city limits will need to designate a friend of family member who is willing to deliver for them.
A staff member will review your application and respond within one week. If you have additional questions, please contact the Newton Public Library at 641-792-4108.
