Newton Public Library
Pick up a free take & make craft kit and paint your own ladybug rocks! Crafters will need to supply their own paint brush, all other materials are included. Registration is encouraged to reserve your kit. Registration opens June 5. Kits can be picked up June 12 - 17. Call 641-792-4108 to register. Limit 2 kits per household.
Kids are invited to come see reptiles up close, with Lindsay Butikofer, the Cold-Blooded Red Head. Program will be held in the meeting room, no registration required.
Join our NEW afternoon book club for adults! Everyone chooses their own book to read based on a monthly theme. Come and talk about your book! It's like a potluck of books... You may learn of a new title you want to read next! The June theme is "Historical Fiction".
Join us in the teen area for board game fun. Led by Library staffperson Bill Bennett, an avid board game player. Learn how to play games like Zooloretto and Carcosonne. Grades 5 - 12.
The 2023 City of Newton Adult Co-Ed Softball League will be played June 1 - July 27; it includes 8 games plus the league tournament. Registration deadline is May 18. Cost per team is $160. Only teams who have registered and paid by the deadline will be allowed to play.
Maytag Pool

Maytag Pool can be found nestled in the center of historic Maytag Park, which is located at 301 S 11th Ave W. Since the pool was built in 1935, it has served as one of the main summertime family attractions in Newton.

The pool features zero-entry access, a chair lift, water fountains, two water slides, a diving well, and six 25 meter swimming lanes.
Maytag Bowl
Free music is invading a park near you this summer... Maytag Park to be specific! Join us for the annual Maytag Bowl Summer Concert Series at Maytag Park. Shows kick off at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) and are FREE! Those attending are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets as well as their own food and beverage as they enjoy the music.
