Newton Farmers’ Market

Newton Main Street hosts Newton’s Farmers’ Market, which features a variety of vendors and runs from 4:00 to 6:00 pm every Tuesday, June through September, in downtown Newton. Cost is FREE. Items are available for purchase. The Market is authorized to participate in the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).

SOAR Raptor Rescue

SOAR- Saving Our Avian Resources Raptor rehabilitation from Manning, Iowa will bring one Bald Eagle, and share information about their important work. Every year, they rehabilitate over 300 raptors for release into the wild. They rehabilitate Bald Eagles, Hawks and Owls of all species found in Iowa. This program will be held outside on the library lawn, please bring a blanket to sit on. No registration is necessary. If it is raining or extremely hot, the program will be moved into the Library meeting room. This program is geared towards children, but all ages are invited to attend.

Swimming Lessons at Maytag Pool (Registration Required)

Lessons will be held Monday through Thursday using Friday as a rain make-up day. If you have questions, please call the Community Services Office at 641-792-6622 ext. 2304.

Maytag Pool can be found nestled in the center of historic Maytag Park, which is located at 301 S 11th Ave W. Since the pool was built in 1935, it has served as one of the main summertime family attractions in Newton.

Since the pool was built in 1935, it has served as one of the main summertime family attractions in Newton. The pool features zero-entry access, a chair lift, water fountains, two water slides, a diving well, and six 25 meter swimming lanes.
